From Waste Oil to Natural Soap: Transforming the Future!

With our eTwinning project, we have transformed environmentally harmful waste oils into fragrant soaps through chemical recycling. Through this activity, we have both protected our water resources and turned the "Zero Waste" awareness into production. Waste is.

Summary of the "Green Compass" Project

The “Green Compass: Climate-Friendly Living with Digital Steps” is an international eTwinning project that aims to raise student awareness about climate change, wildfires, and sustainability.

By integrating environmental education with 21st-century skills, students use advanced Web 2.0 tools (like Canva, Padlet, Book Creator, and Google My Maps) to create impactful digital stories, posters, and interactive maps. Working in mixed international teams, students develop core competencies in communication, empathy, collaboration, and active digital citizenship.

Our main collaborative outputs include:

  • 📜 The "Green Manifesto"

  • 🌲 "Story of the Forest"

  • 🗺️ "Green Life Map"

  • 🎮 Eco-themed educational games

Together, we are taking digital steps toward a greener, more sustainable future!

The The Green Compass – Climate-Friendly Living Through Digital Steps eTwinning project was a highly valuable and inspiring experience for both teachers and students. Throughout the project, students increased their awareness of climate change, sustainable living, and environmentally responsible behaviors while improving their digital competencies.

One of the strongest aspects of the project was the effective integration of Web 2.0 tools into the learning process. Students actively used various digital tools such as Canva, Padlet, Wordwall, Quizizz, Genially and Google Forms to create presentations, interactive activities, surveys, quizzes, and collaborative products. These tools enhanced student engagement, creativity, communication, and teamwork skills.

The project successfully combined environmental education with digital literacy. Students learned how small daily actions can contribute to environmental sustainability and shared their ideas through collaborative international activities. The cooperation among partner schools encouraged intercultural communication and provided students with opportunities to exchange experiences and perspectives.

The planned activities were well-organized, student-centered, and aligned with the project objectives. The use of technology made learning more interactive and meaningful, while collaborative tasks strengthened students’ problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.

Overall, the project achieved its goals effectively. It increased environmental awareness, promoted climate-friendly habits, and enhanced students’ digital and collaborative competencies. I am very satisfied with the outcomes of the project and would be pleased to participate in similar international eTwinning projects in the future.

Thanks to Our Project Partners and Students

As we come to the end of our Green Compass: Climate-Friendly Living with Digital Steps project, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all our project partners in Turkey, Romania, Italy, and Greece who have been with us on this meaningful journey.

Throughout this project, thanks to the collaboration, sharing, and solidarity we established, we have contributed to our students' awareness of environmental and climate issues, the development of their digital skills, and the acquisition of active citizenship awareness. The collaborative work we have produced has shown how powerfully individuals from different cultures can come together around a common goal.

We thank all the teachers who contributed to the project for their dedication, creative ideas, collaborations, and friendships. Without your support and contributions, this success would not have been possible.

Our greatest thanks, however, go to our dear students. Thanks to your interest, enthusiasm, creativity, and team spirit, we achieved our project goals. With the digital stories, posters, maps, manifestos, and games you prepared, you once again demonstrated the importance of protecting our environment. You have been the best example of how small steps can turn into big changes.

Through this project, we not only gained new knowledge, but also forged new friendships, learned about different cultures, and understood the value of working together for a more livable world.

We believe that every digital step we take together contributes to a greener, more sustainable, and more hopeful future.

Thank you for being a part of the Green Compass family, and we look forward to meeting again in new projects in the future.

Participating in the Green Compass – Climate-Friendly Living Through Digital Steps project was a truly enriching and inspiring experience. Throughout the project, our students had the opportunity to explore environmental issues, sustainable living practices, and climate awareness through engaging digital activities and collaborative work.

As a project partner, I was delighted to witness the enthusiasm, creativity, and growth of our students. Working together with dedicated teachers and students from different schools enabled us to share ideas, learn from one another, and achieve meaningful outcomes.

The project not only increased environmental awareness but also helped students develop important skills such as collaboration, digital literacy, creativity, and responsibility. Seeing students become more conscious of their impact on the environment and more active in promoting sustainable habits has been one of the most rewarding aspects of this journey.

I am grateful to be part of such a valuable project and would like to thank all project partners, students, and contributors for their dedication and cooperation. I believe the knowledge, experiences, and friendships gained through Green Compass will continue to inspire us in the future. I hope we will meet again in many successful projects ahead.

Our Green Compass Project's Success Crowned with a Certificate!

Today is one of the most meaningful and proud days for our "Green Compass" eTwinning project, which we started and carried out with great enthusiasm within the Çaycuma Special Education Vocational School. For months, my students and I have worked with great dedication to raise awareness about the climate crisis, promote zero-waste consciousness, and build a more sustainable future. We put our heads together at the table; we wrote songs, designed posters, and learned the importance of recycling by doing and experiencing. Today, as a reward for this meaningful journey and every drop of effort poured into this project by our special children, we have received our Project Certificate. As an educator, the greatest reward for me is the environmental awareness my students gained during this process and the joy in their eyes from having achieved something. This certificate proves once again that when equal opportunities are provided in special education and the right guidance is given, there is no obstacle our children cannot overcome, no success they cannot achieve. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to our school administration, my esteemed colleagues, our parents, and especially to my dear students, the true architects of this project, who beautified the world with their energy. Our green compass will always continue to show us the right path and success!
